Vows to fight the dismantling of the fourth estate of Democracy
Srinagar CNS, Dec 2: An emergency meeting of all the Newspapers Associations, under the banner of Newspapers Coordination Committee, was held at Press Enclave Srinagar in which the representatives vehemently condemned the governments un-relented measures to muzzle the voice and employ innovative methods to crush the media in Jammu & Kashmir.
The speakers in the meeting equated the government’s anti-media policies as the murder of democracy. It was unanimously decided to fight back the arrogant postures of the government unitedly and vigorously to frustrate their ill aimed designs against press in J&K. The representatives of associations vowed not to surrender before the government and fight the onslaught. They said the media in Kashmir too is duty bound to highlight the issues concerned to the peoples welfare and prosperity. It was then decided to meet again tomorrow at 11.30 AM at Kashmir Press Club, Srinagar to pursue the movement for justice to the peoples voice.
The Associations who participated in the meeting included Jammu Kashmir Editors Association (JKEA), Kashmir Press Association (KPA), JK Media Guild, JK Media Association, State Press Forum, JK Editors Federation and JK Print Media welfare Association (Jammu).
