SRINAGAR, JANUARY 16: The Covid-19 vaccination drive was today launched across all the districts of Kashmir division after Prime Minister, Narendra Modi virtually kicked off world’s largest Covid-19 vaccination drive in the country.
The vaccination drive was launched setting in motion a complex deployment plan aimed at stemming the wide spread of infections across the country.
It was given out that in the first phase, the ‘Covishield’ vaccine shall be administered to frontline workers and the beneficiaries and every beneficiary will need to receive two doses of the same vaccine, 28 days apart.
Meanwhile, the vaccination drive was also launched across all the districts of the division in presence of respective district heads at identified vaccination centers.
At Budgam: The Covid-19 vaccination drive was launched during an impressive function organized at District Hospital Budgam in presence of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Shahbaz Ahamd Mirza and CMO Budgam, Dr. Tajamul Hussain.
On the occasion, the Covid-19 vaccine was administered to many front line health workers.
Speaking at the event, the DC expressed satisfaction regarding the arrangements and said that the vaccination drive launched today will be completed successfully.
He appealed to the general public that as per the drafted plan the vaccines shall be administered category wise, and each of the beneficiary should enthusiastically come forward for vaccination as these vaccines are fully safe and any one can get it without fear or any apprehension.
The CMO said that today about 200 front line health workers have been administered the first dose of this vaccine, among these 100 health workers get vaccinated at District Hospital Budgam and other 100 health workers have been administered the vaccine at SDH Magam.
CMO further revealed that all arrangements required for pre and post care for vaccinated persons are in place at each designated centre and health authorities are ready in all capacity to oversee the needful amid Covid-19 vaccination drive.
At Ganderbal: The first phase of vaccination drive was kick started by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal at District Hospital Ganderbal during which the first shot was given to the Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Mehraj-u-din.
The District Administration has established two vaccination centers viz District Hospital and SDH Kangan for the immunization of about 1700 frontline health workers in the first phases of the district.
The CMO informed that all necessary arrangements have been put in place beforehand besides other 17 vaccination centers are also established which shall be functional from Monday.
Meanwhile, at SDH Kangan vaccination drive was simultaneously launched by SDM Kangan, Hakeem Tanveer.
A team of district level task force for implementation of various preparatory activities related to introduction of Covid-19 vaccine has also been constituted in the district for ensuring smooth and peaceful vaccination programme in the district.
SSP Ganderbal, Khalil Poswal, ADC Ganderbal, Farooq Ahmad Baba, Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Mehraj-u-din, Medical Superintendent DH, District Immunization Officer, BMO Ganderbal and other officials of health department were present on the occasion.
At Baramulla: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Dr G N Itoo today kick-started the first phase of Covid-19 vaccination drive at two designated centres viz Govt Medical College Baramulla and Sub-district Hospital Sopore, here.
After launching the campaign, the DC said that about 3300 health and frontline workers from across the district shall be vaccinated in this drive. He added that adequate and proper arrangements have been made for launching the subsequent phases.
Moreover, DC said that all those functionaries who worked tirelessly and selflessly in realizing the dream, deserve much appreciation and gratitude.
At Pulwama: The Covid-19 vaccination drive was launched during a function organized at District Hospital Pulwama in presence of District Development Commissioner (DDC) Pulwama , Dr Raghav Langer.
On the occasion the first shot was administered to Medical Superintendent, DH Pulwama, Dr Jameel Ahmad, followed by other doctors and nursing staff
Around 200 health workers including Doctors, Paramedics besides other supporting staff received the first dose of COVID vaccine at two vaccination sites.
Chief Medical Officer, Pulwama said that around 100 frontline workers got vaccinated each at 02 identified sites in Pulwama during the ist phase.
She informed that all protocols pertaining to vaccinations were strictly followed at both the locations and further added that the district health authorities have placed adequate facilities in place for carrying out the Ist phase of COVID vaccination among health care workers.
At Anantnag: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, K.K. Siddha today kickstarted the Covid-19 Vaccination programme at District Hospital in presence of Principal GMC Anantnag, Chief Medical Officer and Medical Superintendent Dist Hospital Ang.
The programme was also rolled out in Sub district Hospital Bijbehara and both of these two sites have been earmarked for the vaccination of health care workers under Phase Ist of the vaccination programme.
At DH, Principal GMC Anantnag received the first vaccine dose while at SDH Bijbihara, MS Bijbihara received the first shot followed by doctors, nurses and other paramedical staff.
At each of these sites, 100 beneficiaries will be vaccinated a day and the data is uploaded on the COWIN portal.
The CMO informed that adequate arrangements have been put in place at all designated places in the district for successful vaccination programme.
It was further informed that all protocols pertaining to vaccination programmes and Covid-19 guidelines are being followed. An AEFI room has been set up at each site to address any post-vaccination adverse effects besides special measures have been taken for proper disposal of biomedical waste
At Shopian: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Choudhary Mohammad Yasin today kick started first phase of Covid-19 vaccination at Sub-district Hospital Zainapora of district Shopian in presence of SDM Zainapora and CMO Shopian.
On the occasion, DC said that the healthcare workers will be the first to get Covid-19 vaccine in the initial phase of inoculation since healthcare workers are at a higher risk of contracting the virus and their sickness would mean disruption of the healthcare delivery system.
He said that the medical staff would imperil patients by snubbing Covid shots. The idea of vaccinating healthcare providers first is to help pave way for broader vaccine acceptance.
On the occasion, DC said that 75 vaccination centers have been established in the district and 1064 health workers will be vaccinated.
The DC also appealed public to cooperate with the health workers and get themselves vaccinated so that the disease will get completely eliminated as this is the only way to end the pandemic.
At Bandipora: Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Zahoor Ahmad Mir on Saturday launched the Covid-19 vaccination drive at CHC Hajin and Sumbal in presence of Chief Medical Officer Bandipora, Dr Bashir Ahmad, Deputy CMO and District Immunization Officer.
The first Covid vaccine shot was given to the doctors on duty at these Health Centres besides other health workers.
On the occasion, ADC lauded the efforts of the Health workers in tackling the pandemic situation during last one year and said the society is indebted to the health workers for working round the clock and beyond their duty hours to ensure safety of the common people.
About 200 health workers will be administered COVID19 vaccination under Phase-I. The ADC said that during the first phase 35 vaccination centres shall remain functional out of the total 109 vaccination centres established in the district.
At Kupwara: District Development Commissioner (DDC), Kupwara, Anshul Garg kick-started the Covid-19 vaccination drive at Sub District Hospital Kupwara in presence of ADC Kupwara, Nazir Ahmad Lone and CMO, Dr. Kousar Amin.
The first immunization vaccine was given to Dr. Mohammad Ramzan, District Tuberculosis Officer, Kupwara
Meanwhile, 100 health workers including ASHAs and Anganwadi Workers of Kupwara block were vaccinated.
On the occasion, the DDC said that all 4500 vaccination doses available in the district will be utilized at first to cover up the health workers. He said that 43 identified sites in the district are ready to carry out the vaccination programme. Vaccination doses have been also stocked at border area Tangdar, Machill and Keran, DDC added.
Among others, Nodal Officer Ayush Department, Doctors, Paramedics, Health workers and other concerned were present, on the occasion.
At District Hospital Handwara, the vaccination drive was kick-started by ADC Handwara, Nazir Ahmad Mir in presence of Medical Superintendent, Doctors and Paramedics.
On the occasion, 100 health workers were vaccinated at the vaccination centre established in the hospital.
At Kulgam: The Covid-19 vaccination drive was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Showkat Aijaz Bhat at District Hospital Kulgam.
It was given out that under phase first more than four thousand frontline workers will get vaccinated at two venues viz. District Hospital Kulgam and Health Centre Yaripora.
The CMO, Dr. Fazil Ali Kochak Kulgam informed that all necessary arrangements are in place to carry out the whole vaccination drive successfully in the district.
Among others, Medical Superintendent, Muzaffar Ahmad and other officers from health and District administration were present on the occasion.
