Sopore, March 20 : At least eight families lost their shelter in a massive blaze at Mahrajpora area of Sopore town on Saturday that turned six residential houses into ashes.
From clothes to essentials, these families have lost everything in the devastating blaze.
With the damage caused to six residential houses, at least eight families were rendered homeless.
While talking with the Correspondent, locals said, soon after fire breaks out in the area we called fire and emergency department, despite many calls they didn’t pay any heed to our pledges.
“They are just 2 kms away from the area, we physically send a person to the department and it’s very unfortunate they didn’t open the gate”, they added.
“If fire and emergency had came on time the damage could have been saved”, said a victim.
The family heads identified as Bilal Ahmad Malla son of Wali Mohammad Malla, Javaid Ahmad Malla,Gh Nabi Malla son of Gh Mohammad Malla, Mohammad Yousuf Malla son of Ali Mohammad Malla,Nazir Ahmad Malla Gh Mohammad Malla,Mohd Sahban Malla son of Gh Mohammad Malla, all residents of Maharajpora.
Meanwhile president of local Mohalla committee, appealed the government to compensate the affected families so that they can build their homes again.
