Establishing of Community market aimed to provide job opportunities among unemployed youths in area.
In Mehmood abad of Dooru Area in Anantnag District The First Community Market Under UMEED Scheme was established.In this unit at least 30 girls were engaging to work as packing of food items and other basic commodities to earn for their livelihood.
SuB Divisional Magistrate Dooru Ghulam Rasool Wani along with Muncipal President Mohammad Iqbal Ahangar, BDO Dooru Muzzafar Ahmad Malik inaugurated the Community Market.
On this Occasion Dysp Dr Ishan Gupta,DDC Member Shabir Ahmad Dar, SDO Horticulture, BPM,DPM and other officers of Various Deparments were also Present.
The market to be operated by Self Help Groups by women enrolled with UMEED would provide goods like spices, Handicrafts, cosmetics, catering, honey, maize and other basic amenities.
Speaking on the occasion, SDM Dooru said that UMEED has been doing commendable job from its beginning in terms of providing assistance to the women for establishing their income generating units. He said that the initiative will support local art and artisans of Self Help groups of J&K Rural Livelihood Mission,providing a platform to market local products directly to the customers.He added that extensive marketing needs to be done for the said market so that more and more women get inspiration.
It’s pertinent to mention that the UMEED scheme of Jammu and Kashmir Rural Livelihoods Mission (JKRLM) is providing wings to the aspirations of rural women in the Union territory, who dream of becoming economically independent.
The Mission aims to reduce poverty by building strong grass-root institutions for the poor in Jammu and Kashmir, engaging them in gainful livelihood interventions and ensuring appreciable improvements in their income on a sustainable basis Through UMEED, hundreds of women are not only scripting their success stories in Jammu and Kashmir but are motivating others to come out of poverty and become successful entrepreneurs.
UMEED is immensely helping women entrepreneurs to exhibit and market their products.
The UMEED programme under JKRLM is a centrally sponsored scheme to encourage women to be self dependent and self-sufficient.
A female employee of Community Market said that it is an opportunity for youths to earn and fed their families and we are thankful to District Adminstration for providing such opportunities for Employed youths to earn and fed their families.
