Srinagar, Jun 12: Srinagar traffic police on Monday said they have introduced the integrated hi-tech version technology to curb traffic violations in the city, and also to take the traffic enforcement and surveillance management on modernized lines.
Senior Superintendent of Police for City Traffic, Muzaffar Ahmad Shah, while talking to the persons at his office, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said while they already had speed radar guns, now they have integrated the device with a smart card connected to an application on the tablet.
“The traffic violation monitoring has come on modern technology lines now as we have introduced integrated use of speed radar guns fitted with 360° PTZ camera,” the SSP traffic Srinagar said, adding that the device will be on move and placed wherever it is needed.
The officer said the device comes fitted with a smart card and has a good number of utilities. “We can direct live feed access at our control room,” he said.
Shah said the technology is an improved version that has become wireless now and it will capture all the violations with proof. “As of now, the device will be on the move and won’t be placed permanently at any particular place as we are in its initial phase. So far, it has shown good results,” he added.
In its trial phase, the city traffic police authorities earlier in the day carried out its test on the boulevard in Srinagar where a senior traffic official said the technology comes with pre-defined settings.
“These devices have not come for the first time. We already had speed radar guns or cameras, but now they all have been integrated into a one-vehicle. We have named it a smart vehicle that will detect maximum traffic violations and all the feed will be sent to the control room,” an official said—(KNO)
