Srinagar, May, 11: Acting on a tip-off received from the Sales Tax Officer of the Central Enforcement (Airport Wing) department, a team from the Drug Control Department, led by Ms. Irfana, Joint Drugs Controller, and Mr. Irshad Assad Jan (JKAS), Sales Tax Officer, seized a consignment of Tramadol tablets at the Cargo Building today. The quantity of tablets seized amounted to 1080, and they were found to be coming through unregulated channels.
Tramadol is a prescription opioid pain medication known to pose risks when misused by drug addicts. The Drug Control Department is currently investigating the source and intended destination of this illicit shipment.
This seizure is part of the department’s ongoing efforts to combat the illegal sale and distribution of prescription drugs. In the past, in collaboration with the Sales Tax Department at the Airport in Srinagar, similar consignments have been successfully seized, and those responsible have been brought to justice.
