Kulgam, Sep, 15: PDP president Mehbooba Mufti sharply criticized National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah during a public rally in the Devsar area of Kulgam district. Mufti accused Abdullah and the National Conference (NC) of introducing controversial measures such as the Ikhwan, Task Force, and POTA in Jammu and Kashmir during their rule.
Addressing a large crowd, Mufti asserted that the PDP had significantly contributed to the state’s development. “The people of Jammu and Kashmir recognize that it was the PDP that established good governance. We set up universities, colleges, and AIIMS during our tenure,” she stated.
Mufti further highlighted the role of her late father, Mufti Mohammed Sayeed, in shaping the PDP’s stance against what she described as the NC’s authoritarian practices. “Had Mufti Mohammed Sayeed not founded the PDP, the National Conference would have continued its dictatorial ways. The public is deeply dissatisfied with the National Conference,” she said.
Reflecting on past alliances, Mufti noted that while the PDP had formed governments with both the Congress and the BJP, these partnerships were guided by principles. “We built alliances with the Congress and BJP based on clear principles. We facilitated dialogue with Pakistan, engaged with the Hurriyat Conference through a high-level delegation, and withdrew 12,000 FIRs filed against youth during NC’s rule,” she claimed.
