Budgam 26 Dec:- A cycling rally was organized by Indian Army’s 62 RR Beerwah, in collaboration with Social Activist Muzamil Mehmood here today atleast Fifty cyclists participated in the rally.
The event witnessed participation from all sections of society, with participants hailing from various areas of Beerwah town.
The flag-off ceremony was conducted by SDPO Magam. Major of 62 RR Beerwah flagged off the riders in the presence of other prominent personalities, including SHO Beerwah, who both also participated in the event.
The success of the Cycle Rally has set a benchmark for future sports events in the region, uniting the youth of Kashmir in a display of exceptional talent, sportsmanship, and patriotism.
This event serves as a poignant symbol of the close integration between the Indian Army and the local population, highlighting the military’s efforts towards youth empowerment. The cyclists, inspired by their experience, vowed to return in even greater numbers next year, further cementing the deep bond forged between the people of Kashmir and the Indian Army.
Mohammad Irfan Pathan, who secured the first position, said that the race was held in harsh and cold weather, but the success was possible due to excellent arrangements. He attributed his victory to continuous hard work.
Arslan Ahmed Dar, who secured second position, said that the cold and bad road affected his performance, but he will work harder next time.
Muhammad Aqib Lone, who took the third position, said that due to the exams, he could not prepare fully, but expressed his determination to perform better in future competitions.
On this occasion social activist Muzamil Mehmood while talking to the journalists said that the objective of Budgam Cycling Championship is to attract the youth towards sports so that they can stay away from negative activities. “The youth are the asset of our nation, and we have to channelize their energy into positive activities so that they are physically and mentally strong,” he said
