Anantnag, March 24, 2025: World Tuberculosis (TB) Day was observed today in Akura Mattan, Anantnag, with the aim of raising awareness about the prevention and eradication of TB. The event was marked by a gathering of healthcare officials, medical staff, and community representatives, who came together to stress the importance of eradicating this deadly disease.
The Chief Medical Officer of Kulgam, Dr. Shawkat Hussain, emphasized the urgent need to eliminate TB by 2030. In his address, he highlighted the government’s commitment to achieving a TB-free India, stressing the importance of early diagnosis, timely treatment, and active community involvement in reaching this ambitious goal.
Dr. Shawkat Hussain called on healthcare workers and the general public to actively participate in awareness campaigns, adhere to treatment protocols, and promote preventive measures to curb the spread of tuberculosis. He further underlined that a collective effort from both healthcare professionals and the public was essential to effectively combat TB and ensure its eventual eradication.
The event served as a reminder of the global efforts to combat TB and the role of each individual in achieving a TB-free future. The focus on early intervention, diagnosis, and treatment adherence remains critical in the fight against tuberculosis, as highlighted by the event’s participants.
