SRINAGAR, APRIL 30: The Governing Body of SSM College of Engineering convened its 22nd meeting—and the first after attaining autonomous status—on April 30, 2025, to review the college’s academic progress, autonomy implementation, and institutional activities. The meeting was held in virtual mode under the chairmanship of Prof. (Dr.) P.N. Razdan, Former Vice-Chancellor, Dr. D.Y. Patil University Pune and Principal Advisor, Quality Assurance & Excellence Cell, GEF. He was represented in chair by Prof. (Dr.) Tehmina Yousuf, Principal, Islamia College of Science and Commerce, Srinagar.
The meeting witnessed participation from distinguished members including Dr. G.N. Qasba (IAS Retd.), Former Commissioner SMC and Senior Advisor IRADs; Mrs. Roma Wani (KAS), Former Member, National Managing Body (Red Cross Society); Prof. (Dr.) M.A. Shah, Dean Alumni and International Affairs, NIT Srinagar; Prof. (Dr.) MRD Kundangar, Former Director LAWDA; Dr. Qazi Shabir Ahmad, CMD; Mrs. Dilafrose Qazi, Chairperson; Mrs. Haya Tramboo, Chairperson, Salvatore International School; the Director (Academics and Research); Principal; Prof. (Dr.) N.A. Shah, Registrar; Er. SSA Rufai, Principal SSMPTC; Mr. Adil Rashid Naqash, Former KAS Officer; Controller of Examinations and Heads of Departments.
Registrar Prof. (Dr.) N.A. Shah presented the agenda, which was discussed and deliberated upon in detail with consensus-driven decisions taken on each point.
Chairman Prof. Razdan lauded the efforts of the college in achieving autonomous status from UGC and appreciated the introduction of B.Tech. programs in Artificial Intelligence and Computer Engineering for Working Professionals. He offered constructive suggestions for improving academic effectiveness and proposed the launch of short-term skill development courses and research projects under UGC/AICTE schemes.
Other members including Prof. (Dr.) Tehmina Yousuf, Dr. G.N. Qasba, Mrs. Roma Wani, Prof. M.A. Shah, and Prof. MRD Kundangar echoed similar sentiments and shared valuable insights for academic enhancement.
The body also deliberated upon the roadmap for the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP-2020), especially its incorporation in curriculum development.
Vice-Chairperson Mrs. Dilafrose Qazi expressed heartfelt gratitude to all members for their participation and valuable inputs and assured timely follow-up on the suggestions put forth.
