Kupwara, June 25: A 30-year-old man was found dead under mysterious circumstances today in the Drugmulla area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, sparking concern among locals.
According to officials, the body was discovered inside the bathroom located within the premises of Markazi Jamia Masjid Faqirpora, Drugmulla. Police teams immediately reached the spot and carried out an on-the-ground assessment.
The deceased has been identified as Mujeeb ur Rehman Sofi, son of Abdul Rehman Sofi, a resident of Handwara. His body was later taken to a nearby hospital for medico-legal formalities.
Confirming the incident, a police official said, “We have taken cognizance of the matter and initiated further investigation to ascertain the cause of death.”
It has also come to light that the man had been missing since yesterday.
