Kupwara, June 30, As part of its ongoing drive against drug trafficking and its commitment to a drug-free society, Kupwara Police achieved a significant success today by apprehending a drug peddler along the Kawari-Nathnussa bridge area.
A naka was established by the police party of Police Post Dragmulla during which a suspicious individual was intercepted and subjected to thorough checking. The individual was identified as Amjid Rathi son of Mir Wali Rathi a resident of Zachaldara, Handwara.
Upon his search the naka party recovered a charas-like substance from his possession. Consequently case FIR No. 194/2025 under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at the concerned Police Station and investigation has been initiated to ascertain the source and network behind the consignment.
Kupwara Police reiterates its firm resolve to root out the menace of drugs from society. General public is once again appealed to cooperate and share any information related to drug peddling or suspicious activities in their localities. The identity of informants shall be kept confidential.
