Beerwah, July 14: In a major anti-smuggling operation, officials from the Beerwah Range Forest Division seized a Tata Mobile vehicle loaded with illicit Deodar timber in the Gulab Bagh Forest Block (Compartment 68C). The vehicle, found abandoned and partially burned in a deep nallah, contained approximately 12.34 cubic feet of Deodar round logs.
Acting on a tip-off, a team led by Range Officer Manzoor Ahmad, along with forest staff from Beerwah and Gogaldar blocks, located the vehicle and initiated legal action. A case has been registered, and investigations are underway to identify those involved.
Speaking to the media, Ahmad reaffirmed the Forest Department’s commitment to curbing illegal logging. “Strict action will be taken against anyone involved in forest crimes,” he said, adding that efforts to protect Kashmir’s green wealth will continue with full force. [KNT]
