Flood-like Situation in Rajouri

In Rajouri, heavy downpour caused the Dharhali and Saktoh rivers to swell, creating a flood-like situation in several low-lying areas.

District Magistrate Rajouri in a post on X, as quoted by JKNS, announced, “In view of adverse weather conditions, all Government and Private Schools in Rajouri District will remain closed today.”

Reasi Schools Shut for July 22

Similarly, the Deputy Commissioner Reasi has ordered the closure of all schools on July 22 as a precaution.

A formal directive issued by Chief Education Officer Reasi, a copy of which lies with JKNS, reads: “All the Govt./Private Schools of District Reasi shall remain closed on 22-07-2025 as a precautionary measure.”

Samba DC Issues Public Advisory

The Deputy Commissioner Samba on Tueaday issued an Important Advisory for Public Safety as per news agency JKNS, urging residents to remain alert due to the possibility of landslides and waterlogging triggered by continuous rains.

The advisory directs the public to avoid traveling through landslide-prone zones, and strictly prohibits crossing of nallahs, rivulets, or water channels with flowing water. It also calls on school authorities to ensure student safety and halt classes if any school building is found to be unsafe.

“For students who must cross streams or water bodies to reach school, classes shall remain suspended until the weather improves,” the advisory stated.

Residents in need of emergency help have been asked to contact the District Control Room at 01923-241004, advisory reads.

Authorities have urged the public across all districts to stay indoors unless necessary and strictly follow advisories to avoid mishaps. (JKNS)
