Budgam July 27:The 2nd Safar procession was observed with profound religious devotion today in Magam, a prominent town in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district. Thousands of mourners from across the Valley gathered to commemorate the martyrs of Karbala, particularly Imam Hussain (A.S.) and his loyal companions.
The main Zuljanah Sharif procession commenced from Dangar Pora and culminated at Imambargah Yagipora, drawing a massive crowd of Azadars (mourners) who took part in Matam (ritual mourning) and recited elegies to honor the sacrifices made in the historic Battle of Karbala.

The Budgam district administration, in coordination with Jammu and Kashmir Police, had made comprehensive arrangements to ensure the peaceful conduct of the event. Security personnel, medical teams, and traffic staff were deployed throughout Magam to manage the large turnout efficiently.
To support the mourners, the Civil Administration of Magam tehsil, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and local volunteers had set up sabeels and stalls offering water and juices. These community efforts were appreciated widely by participants.
Senior officials including Additional SP Budgam, SDM Beerwah Tawfeeq Gazi, SDPO Magam, and SHO Magam were also present and actively participated in the event. They distributed refreshments among the mourners and ensured the smooth flow of the procession.
