Banihal, Sep 8,: District Police Ramban have cracked a sensational triple blind murder case in record time after three dead bodies were recovered from under a culvert on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway at Rattanbass, Banihal.
Police said that on 8 September, at around 4:00 pm, three unidentified bodies — a woman aged about 30 years, a nine-year-old girl and a five-year-old boy — were found under a culvert on NH-44. The victims bore visible injury marks and elongated cloth pieces tied around their necks.
Following the recovery, FIR No. 95/2025 under Section 103 BNS was registered at Police Station Banihal. A police team led by SDPO Banihal and SHO Banihal, along with FSL experts and a crime photographer, examined the crime scene and collected evidence. The bodies were later shifted to SDH Banihal for postmortem.
The deceased were identified as Dhanmati Devi, wife of late Nand Kishore, resident of Sugauli, East Champaran, Bihar, her daughter Suhani Kumari, aged 9, and son Yash Kumar, aged 5.
A Special Investigation Team headed by SDPO Banihal was constituted to investigate the case. Using both technical and human intelligence and after sustained efforts, the team tracked and apprehended the suspect, identified as Anil Kumar, son of Sudhir Sahni, resident of West Champaran, Bihar. He was arrested from Mir Bazar in Qazigund, Kulgam district.
Police said the accused admitted his involvement in the crime during questioning. The investigation is being closely supervised by SSP Ramban and Additional SP Ramban. [KNT]
