Budgam Sept 22: In line with the Government of India’s vision of preventive healthcare and women’s empowerment, the flagship programme “Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan” was today formally inaugurated at PHC Hardapanzo, Khansahib. The campaign, which runs from 17th September to 2nd October 2025, seeks to screen women for major non-communicable diseases (NCDs) while spreading awareness on wellness and preventive care.
The inauguration was held under the direction of MLA Khansahib, Mr. Saif Din Bhat, in the presence of local representative Gh Hassan and Zonal Medical Officer (ZMO) Hardapanzo. The programme is a part of a nationwide drive to ensure accessible, affordable, and community-based healthcare for women.
Screening and Health Services
The health camp witnessed active participation from women across different villages of Khansahib. Free screening and consultation services were provided for:Hypertension (High Blood Pressure)Diabetes
Oral CancerBreast Cancer
Cervical Cancer
Additionally, routine health services such as ENT, eye, dental, blood pressure, and blood sugar check-ups were conducted. Doctors and paramedical staff also offered counseling on nutrition, maternal health, and hygiene.
Special services were extended to antenatal women, with immunization and TB screening forming part of the preventive healthcare package.
Speaking on the occasion, Gh Hassan appreciated the efforts of the health department and called the campaign “a significant step to bring healthcare closer to women.” He added, “A healthy woman builds a strong family. This programme ensures timely detection of diseases and promotes awareness about preventive healthcare, which is more effective than curative treatment.”
ZMO Hardapanzo, in his remarks, urged women to regularly avail services at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, Community Health Centres, and Anganwadi Centres. He highlighted that the programme’s focus is not only on treatment but also on building awareness for long-term health improvement.
Community-Centric Approach
The campaign has been designed to reach rural women who often lack access to timely diagnostic and preventive services. With NCDs like hypertension, diabetes, and cancers emerging as major health concerns, early detection can save lives and reduce the burden on families and healthcare systems.
Local ASHAs and Anganwadi workers actively mobilized women to attend the camp, ensuring large-scale community participation. Health education materials were also distributed to guide families about lifestyle changes, balanced diets, and the importance of regular health check-ups.
Official Said reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening primary healthcare through community health centres and preventive health drives. He emphasized that the well-being of women and children remains central to government policies, stating, “The Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan is not just about screening, but about empowering families through health awareness and preventive care.”
By the end of the inaugural event, participants expressed satisfaction with the quality of services and stressed the need for more such initiatives at the grassroots level. The health department assured that camps under this Abhiyaan will continue until October 2, covering more villages and ensuring maximum outreach.
The campaign’s underlying message resonated throughout the event: “When women are healthy, families are strong, and society progresses.”
