Srinagar, Dec 4: Kashmir continued to reel under severe cold conditions as night temperatures plummeted across the Valley on Wednesday, with several stations recording sub-zero levels, weather data showed.
Srinagar settled at minus 4.0°C, while neighbouring Pampore recorded minus 5.0°C and Pulwama remained the coldest in the region at minus 5.6°C. Pahalgam, Anantnag and Baramulla registered minus 4.8°C each. Gulmarg recorded minus 1.0°C, while Kokernag stayed comparatively higher at minus 0.8°C.
Kupwara recorded minus 3.2°C, Budgam minus 4.2°C, Bandipora minus 3.9°C, Ganderbal minus 2.6°C and Awantipora minus 4.0°C. Sonamarg settled at minus 3.6°C, while Zojila Pass remained the coldest point with the mercury plunging to minus 17.0°C, according to Kashmir Weather. Zethan Rafiabad recorded minus 4.6°C.
In the Jammu region, weather remained relatively mild, with Jammu recording 8.0°C and Katra 8.4°C. Banihal and Udhampur settled at 2.1°C and 3.0°C, respectively, while Bhaderwah recorded 0.4°C. Samba registered 3.3°C, Rajouri 1.7°C, and Kathua 7.2°C.
Ladakh continued in deep freeze, with Leh recording minus 9.0°C, Kargil minus 7.8°C and Nubra Valley minus 7.6°C.
The cold wave is expected to continue over the coming days as dry weather persists across the region(KNS).
