KULGAM: A special enforcement drive was carried out on Thursday in the main market area of Kulgam to curb footpath encroachment and traffic violations. The drive was jointly conducted by the Tehsildar Kulgam and DySP Traffic Kulgam, along with officials from the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD), Municipal Committee (MC) Kulgam, and Kulgam Police.

The drive was led by Tehsildar Kulgam Nisar Ahmad Wani and DySP Traffic Kulgam Mohammad Aslam Choudhary, with active participation from Naib Tehsildar Kulgam Nasir Ahmad Mantoo, MVD Inspector Kulgam Shahid Ahmad, and other concerned officials.

During the drive, action was taken against shopkeepers and vendors encroaching upon footpaths, causing inconvenience to pedestrians. Traffic violators were also checked, and necessary action was initiated as per rules to ensure smooth vehicular movement in the busy market area.

Officials emphasized that such drives will continue in the future to ensure compliance with traffic norms, maintain public order, and keep pedestrian pathways free from encroachments. The public and traders were urged to cooperate with the authorities in the larger interest of safety and civic discipline.
