Police Attach Properties Worth ₹1.05 Crore Of 2 Notorious Drug Peddlers In Srinagar

Srinagar, July 30: As part of its ongoing crackdown under the Nasha Mukti Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, Srinagar Police on Wednesday attached two immovable properties worth approximately ₹1.05 crore belonging to notorious drug peddlers.

In a handout to GNS, the police said that the action was taken to dismantle the financial infrastructure of narcotics networks operating in the district.

The first property attached is a residential house with land at Pamposh Colony, Palpora, Noorbagh. It belongs to Aqib Mushtaq Kenu, S/o Mushtaq Ahmad Kenu, R/o Pamposh Colony, Palpora. The property, valued at around ₹50 lakh, was attached under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, 1985. The attachment relates to FIR No. 48/2022 registered at Police Station Safakadal under Sections 8/21/29 of the NDPS Act. The accused is presently on bail.

The second property is a three-storey residential house with two commercial shops and land at Pathar Masjid, Zainakadal. It belongs to Altaf Ahmad Najar alias T.K. Khan, S/o Late Ghulam Qadir Najar, R/o Pathar Masjid, Zainakadal. Valued at approximately ₹55 lakh, it was attached under Section 68-F of Chapter VA of the NDPS Act, 1985, in connection with FIR No. 32/2021 registered at Police Station Kral Khud under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act.

Police said the accused is currently under preventive detention under the PIT-NDPS Act, 1988, vide Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir Order No. DIVCOM/K/127/2025 dated 15.07.2025.

Both properties were identified during investigation as having been acquired from proceeds of illicit narcotics trafficking. The attachment was carried out after due approval from the Competent Authority, SAFEMA, New Delhi, in accordance with Chapter VA of the NDPS Act.

The operations were executed by police teams of Police Post Noorbagh and Police Station M.R. Gunj.

“Srinagar Police remains committed to striking at the economic backbone of drug trafficking by depriving offenders of assets amassed through crime,” a police spokesperson said, adding that such actions aim to deter those involved in narcotics trade.

The public has been urged to share credible information on drug trafficking to help make society drug-free under the Nasha Mukti Abhiyan, reads the statement.(GNS)
