Director General of Police Dilbagh Singh today in a press conference said that 177 militants have been killed this year in J&K.

Giving details to media, DGP said that 165 militants have been killed in Kashmir and 12 in Jammu region. Among 177, 22 were foreign militants who were killed this year. 20 militants who had joined this year were brought back into mainstream.

About Batamalo encounter DGP said that 3 militants, woman was killed and a deputy commandant was critically injured. Its painful to see when a civilian is killed during cross firing. Pakistan is desperate to disturb peace in J&K UT, DGP said.

IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar while answering a question regarding death of Sopore youth said that when he was taken to spot where he had hidden grenades and other material took advantage of darkness and managed to escape. We have initiated an enquiry in this incident.

Answering another question regarding Mobile internet gag in Sopore, IGP said that we snap Mobile internet according to the situation, we dont want militants to take advantage of mobile Internet. Today we didn’t snap Internet in Srinagar amid gunfight as we knew we can handle the situation.GNS
