Srinagar, Jan 9 (GNS): Inhabitants of several villages in south-Kashmir’s Pulwama are up in arms against Power Development Department over unscheduled power cuts following recent snowfall in the Valley.

A local delegation told GNS that despite the Power Development Department claiming to have fully restored the electricity, several villages are however facing intermittent power cuts for almost a week now.

The areas facing frequent power cuts in the district include; Tehsil and main-town Pampore besides Panzgama, Chokura, Zahid Bagh, Gulzarpora, Beighpora.

The other areas include Awantipora and Drumbul, Hajin, Panaad villages in Tral.

“The power supply to the areas was snapped soon after it started snowing, however despite improvement in weather conditions we continue to witness frequent power outages”, they said.

“We are facing immense hardships in absence of this basic facility even after paying our bills on time”, the delegation members said.

Maintaining that they approached the department concerned on various occasions, the locals said that “However to our utter dismay nothing significant has been in this regard so far.”

Meanwhile the delegation members have urged District administration as well as Executive Engineer PDD concerned to restore the electricity to its full strength as to mitigate the sufferings of hundreds of households in the areas. (GNS)
