Srinagar, Jan 9, KNT: Most of the Jio Fibre internet connections are down in Press Enclave Srinagar.

Jio Fibre staff is unmoved and reluctant to dispatch its engineering staff to repair the wires that are lying on the ground due to snowfall.

The media outlets that avail the services of Jio Fibre are facing lot of inconvenience as nobody from Jio Fibre staff is paying heed to the complaints registered by them.

Jio Fibre is claiming to offer fastest broadband connections to subscribers but it collapsed completely in wake of the snowfall in Kashmir.

Reports reaching to KNT said that it’s not only the Srinagar’s media hub where Jio Fibre connections are down but there are numerous areas where subscribers are facing problem due to connection failure.

“We registered a complaint but despite that no ground staff arrived at our office to repair the faulty wires,” said a Journalist.

Another Journalist said that they have two Corporate Jio Fibre connections and both are down. “We were assured that field staff will visit our office on Saturday afternoon but that turned out a lie. We also mailed at businesscare@jio.com but of no benefit,” he said.

Those parents who installed Jio Fibre at their homes for the online classes for their kids are repenting now. “Jio authorities call you every month reminding you of the amount that you have to deposit but same authorities don’t bother to respond when you faced connection problem,” said Mukhtar Ahmed.

When Government of India banned 4G in Jammu and Kashmir in the first week of August in 2019, people opted for Jio Fibre after the restoration of broad band service. “Majority of the people switched from government owned BSNL to Jio Fibre as the former is infamous when it comes to addressing the grievances of the customers. I think Jio is also going BSNL way now, caring least for customer service,” Zahid Ahmed said adding that Jio has failed to consider the snowfurry during winters in Kashmir and has not taken measures to ensure lesser disruptions in high speed internet during snowfall.

Another customer said that even Jio customer service number 1800-88-99-444 is not working. “When we dial this number, the line gets disconnected once customer care executive says ‘hello’.”

An official from the Jio Company told Kashmir News Trust that field staff is facing difficulty in reaching to the desired locations. “After the snowfall we have been receiving hundreds of complaints. We have pressed men and machinery into service,” he said. KNT
