Kulgam: Jan 23: During the intervening night of 22/23 Jan, 2021 a routine naka was established at Nepora Chowk area of Qazigund, Police party led by I/C PP Mirbazar SI Imtiyaz Ahmad under the supervision of SDPO Qazigund Shri. Mohd Shafiq-JKPS and SHO Qazigund Insp. Irshad Reshi intercepted a vehicle (Santro Car) bearing registration No.JK03B-8315, going through checking of the vehicle a person carrying two gunny bags filled with poppy straw like substance weighing 43 Kg was found in the vehicle.
Police party arrested the person namely Shahid Ahmad Thoker S/O Mohd Sabir Thoker resident of Waghama Bijebhara on spot, recovered contraband substance and also seized the vehicle used in commission of crime. Regarding the incident case FIR No. 13/2021 U/S 8/15 NDPS act stands registered in Police station Qazigund and investigation is in progress.
It is pertinent to mention that Kulgam police has launched a full fledged war against drug peddlers and will continue its unwavering efforts to eradicate anti-social elements within the district. General public of District Kulgam are once again requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling or any other anti social activity in their vicinity.
