Srinagar, Feb 12: A family from Dharmbugh Kralpora area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district accused police of ‘shielding’ those who according to them are involved in the murder of their beloved son Sajad Ahmed Bhat.

Bhat was found dead in his home in August last year while the family alleged that he was ‘murdered’ by his wife in connivance with her alleged boyfriend.

The family members as well as relatives of the victim assembled at Srinagar’s Press Enclave and staged a protest. They were carrying placards which read: “SHO Chadoora and Investigating Officer converted the murder case (302) into 306 (abetment of suicide) after taking bribe from ‘culprits’.

Sonaullah, one of the protesters told KNT that this murder case was converted into a suicide case while the fact is that Sajad was ‘murdered’ by his wife Shaanu with the help of her alleged boy friend Shahnawaz.

“We are very grateful to SSP Budgam who instructed SHO to probe the case thoroughly but the SHO and IO changed the nature of the case and left no stone unturned in converting the case into suicide,” one of the wailing woman protester said.

“We demand authorities to investigate the matter thoroughly and take action against the persons involved in this ‘murder’,” they said.

The protesters raised slogans against the culprits and police and alleged that the statement recorded by them was twisted by the Investigating Officer of the case.

They sought intervention of DGP and IGP to ascertain the facts regarding what they said ‘cold blooded murder’ of Sajad Ahmed. (KNT)
