Bandipora : Despite easing out 40% syllabus by the JKBOSE authorities, only a single student from two Government Higher Secondary schools has been able to qualify the matriculation examination in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district. The result of Class 10th annual examinations of Kashmir division was declared on Friday by the BOSE authorities.

As per the data accessed by KDC, out of twenty five (25) students who had appeared for the matriculation examinations from Government Higher Secondary School Panar, not a single student was declared as qualified while out of eleven (11) students who had appeared in the exams from Government Boys High School Kilshy Tulail Gurez of Bandipora, only a single student has been able to achieve success in the aforesaid exams.

When KDC brought the matter into the notice of Chief Education Officer (CEO), Bandipora, Javid Iqbal blamed the lockdown due to Covid-19 and lack of internet connectivity in the aforesaid far flung areas of Bandipora for the poor performance of the students.

Upon asking about community classes for such students, the CEO said, “We were directed to hold community classes in such far flung and inaccessible areas by the then Principal Secretary Higher Education Department. Action against the staff of the above mentioned schools and schools having below thirty (30) % qualifying percentage will be initiated in next 48 hours.”

He added that the salaries of the staff will be withheld and suspensions will follow once we compile the whole data.

Pertinently, out of 2215 students who had appeared in the examination through government schools in Bandipora district, only 1250 have been declared qualified taking the total count of qualified students to 56.43%.
