Srinagar, Mar 06: World Human Rights Protection Commission (WHRPC) has honoured Kashmir based human rights and social activist Iqbal Hussain with an honorary doctorate.
Iqbal, 45, a resident of Chatergam village in B K Pora tehsil of Budgam district has been honoured with the doctorate of social worker leadership as well as the honorary International membership in the organization.
Iqbal while talking to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that he has been working for the welfare of society from the last 15 years on different fronts.
“Whenever any patient needs any financial support or any poor children needs books, I with the help of public donations besides contributing from my own pocket them,” he said.
Iqbal said he tries his best to solve public issues by bringing them to the notice of the concerned authorities.
The award was offered to him for his continuous efforts from the last two decades towards peace, humanity and human rights.
The programme was held in the India International Centre in Delhi where many noted personalities like H E Austin Fernando, the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka, Richardo Verna, the Deputy Chief of Panama, Mississippi, Mathapelo, High Commissioner of South Africa was present—(KNO)
