Baramulla, : Hours after a devasted fire damaged more than fifteen shops at Watergam, Rafiabad traders and locals held a protest against Fire and Emergency department for “failing to establish” Fire Tender Station depsite government directions.
Locals told RNA that Advisor to Governor had directed DG Fire Services last year to establish a Fire Station at Watergam vide his letter number SA/ADV( B)/F-42/2020/101 dated 20-08-2020 but despite that the nothing happened on ground. They said a reminder was also sent to the department from Advisor’s office without any response from the department whatsoever.
They alleged that the absence of fire tenders resulted in huge loss of property in today’s blaze and demanded action against authorities for ignoring Advisor’s directives and overlooking public concern.
