Residents of Soaf Shali village in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district have been reeling under acute shortage of water for the past two weeks causing hardships to the locals.
Residents of Ahanger Mohalla, and Ganie in soaf Shali were facing acute shortage of piped water from past two weeks.
Residents were forced to fetch water from ponds for daily basis.A resident of the village said that the area had been ignored by authorities alleging villagers.
Another resident said that the water taps in their village run dry for most of the time and they had to cover long distances to fetch water.
“We have been facing shortage of water for past two weeks and the concerned authorities never paid heed to our requests,” they added
They said we have conveyed many times to concerned authorities nothing was done instead of assurances.
Meanwhile when we contacted AEE Jal Shakti Kokernag Mohd Ayoub he said due to decrease of water level scheduled water suplly will be provided to every village. and urges to general public for co operation by avoiding misuse of drinking water supply.
Aee also told that he will direct concerned officials to visit the area to redress the genuine grievances of people.
