Kupwara, July 05: Svarnim Vijay Varsh Celebrations were carried out at Drugmulla Military Garrison on 05 Jul 2021 to commemorate 50 years of the Indian victory over Pakistan during the 1971 war which gave birth to a new nation called ‘Bangladesh’.

The Victory flame, which is a depiction of the courage, valor, and sacrifice that our brave soldiers showed when the motherland called for their help, was received at the Garrison by Brig Ajay Kumar Das, Cdr, Thunderbolt Brigade.
The Victory Flame was escorted by serving Army Officers, JCOs, Other Ranks, Civil Dignitaries,Ex-Servicemen, School Teachers and Children in victory march inside Drugmulla Garrison. The environment was replete with patriotic flavour and the slogans of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai”.
Post the Victory March, the Flame was taken to War Memorial for the Guard of Honour and Wreath laying ceremony where Cdr, Thunderbolt Brigade, Officers, JCOs,Civil Dignitaries,ExServiceMen and village representative laid wreath and paid tribute to the Flame. Post Wreath Laying Ceremony, a colourful cultural programme was conducted in which around 30 school kids and 30 soldiers took part. The cultural programme consisted of patriotic songs by the band of artillery regt, Kashmir folk song and dance by school kids and traditional Maratha Lezim dance.

The event included Performances on songs like (Bharat ka rehne wala hoon, Teri Mitti Mei Miljawa) by band of artillery regiment and dance on a Kashmiri folk song by students of Primary School Anderhama and Primary School Muqam-i-Shahwali followed by felicitation of students and Tea.

The Victory Flame was later handed over to Shakti Vijay Bde for further processions.

The event is the hallmark of rich traditions of the Indian Army wherein the fallen brethrens were remembered and paid rich tribute by all officers, JCOs and soldiers of Drugmulla Military Garrison. The Victory Flame signifies the valour, chivalry and sacrifice made by all ranks of Indian Army and ignites the spirit of patriotism in every citizen of the country. This circulation of patriotic flame was a rare event conducted at Drugmulla Garrison which the Army made it memorable among the local populace- ” A thing of beauty is joy forever” celebration indeed.
