Anantnag, Jul 30: Nadeem Nazir, hailing from village Muniwara in district Anantnag, has been awarded gold medal in the subject of mathematics by the President of India Ram Nath Kovind, on the 19th annual convocation held at SKICC, Srinagar for being the only student from Anantnag who was listed in top ten gold medalists and representing all the gold medalists of the school of physical and mathematical sciences, University of Kashmir.

Nadeem took his primary education from Government Primary School Muniwara and being a hardworking student topped 10th class JKBOSE examinations from Government High School T.B Shah.

Nadeem was also the topper of his B.SC batch in his stream from Government Degree College Boys Anantnag. He is the first candidate from his area who has also topped the KU entrance test in 2017 in mathematics.

Nadeem lost his father Nazir Ahmed Dar, a labourer by profession, when he was giving his second semester examinations.

While talking with news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Nadeem said that after losing his father he went back to the University on the 5th day to attempt the remaining papers.

“My batchmates and his faculty were amazed after seeing me topping the second semester with 9.5 CGPA even during tough times I was facing at that moment,” Nadeem.

“I had to fight to attempt my missed papers and finally I was allowed on humanitarian basis after I displayed my father’s death certificate,” Nadeem said.

Aspiring to be a gold medalist as was his parents and his brother Ilyas Nazir’s dream, Nadeem even after losing his father, didn’t shun his dream.

“I have been home only a few times, after my father’s demise as I was not able to look at my mother while being at home without her husband,” he said.

Nadeem after receiving an honour from the President of India has become an inspiration for all the students of his district Anantnag and for Jammu & Kashmir.

Nadeem who later lost her mother also said that all the credit goes to his parents who made him strong.

“I request all the students of the valley, do not let your parents down by doing anything bad which is against their teachings,” He said—(KNO)
