JKYF pledges to adopt changing trends in social service; speakers during 3-day capacity building programme at Kulgam urged volunteers to adopt noval methodologies in the field.

Srinagar,September 12, 2021: Speakers at the three day capacity building programme organized by J&K Yateem Foundation has urged upon the volunteers of the NGO to adopt novel methodologies in the field of social service to meet the latest challenges in the field.
Three Day capacity building programme as part of JKYF’s continuing efforts
The speakers described humility, sincerity, selflessness as the base to serve humanity and urged upon the volunteers to learn latest know-how in technologies to coupe up the emerging needs for effectively dealing with issues in the social service sector.

The three day volunteers’ workshop was part of JKYF’s continuing efforts to sensitize the volunteers on ground about various issues & challenges related to voluntary social service in Jammu & Kashmir.

 

In view of COVID 19 pandemic, all the participants followed basic SOPs including wearing of face masks, maintaining adequate physical distancing and ensuring thorough hand washing and proper sanitization of the venue as well.

 

Addressing the gathering of over 160 senior volunteers from various parts of Kashmir J&K includinhg far flung & hilly districts like Doda, Kishtwar, Poonch & Rajouri, the speakers appreciated the sincerity of volunteers and urged them to be proactive building their capacities as volunteers to help poorest among the poor and needy in a professional manner.

Noted columnist and auther Dr Marouf Shah in his address stressed upon the need to manage time effectively so that maximum results could be achieved in minimum time. Terming the book reading an inalienable part of personality development, he emphasized upon all the audience to read at least one book in a month to enhance their capacity.

 

Earlier chairman JKYF Mohammad Ahsan Rather in his welcome address advised volunteers to follow the organizational discipline in letter and spirit in their day to day activities.
Rafiq Ahmad Mir district secretary JKYF Shopian speaking on the topic “Responsibilities of the volunteers in the light of Quran” said that Quran is filled with the message of social service irrespective of any discrimination with utmost sincerity.
Senior volunteer Nissar ul Hassan spoke on the theme “Qualities of a volunteer in light of Hadith” while invoking the sayings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) enjoined upon the volunteers to work sincerely for mitigating the sufferings of the destitute to earn the blessings of the Allah (SWT) in this life and the Hereafter. He strongly advised the volunteers to desist from taking any advantage directly or indirectly from the beneficiaries and work slflessly.

 

Dr Sheikh Aariz Physiotherapist, spoke on the theme “Fisrt Aid Training”, shared some vital and very relevant tips to deal with any emergency while doing social service. The Participants enjoyed the session and termed it fruitful in view of any exigency. Explaining the importance of physiotherapy he said that sudden ailments like heart attacks could be avoided through first aid.

 

Dr Mohammad Ashraf Dar assistant professor IMPA deliberated upon the topic Participatory Planning through PRA Techniques and Community Mobilization . He advised the volunteers to make use of PIP and POP modals for identification of poorest among the poor and their participation in the welfare programmes. All the volunteers were highly impressed with his teaching techniques.

Dr Zulfqar Ahmad SP Kulgam speaking on the topic Role of Volunteers to Eradicate Substance Abuse appealed the audience to help the administration in weeding out the menace of drug abuse and other social evils. He appreciated the JKYF for capacity building of its volunteers.

Educationist Bashir Talib while speaking on Policy Shift in Education system advised the management of JKYF to focus on the skill bases education to empower the orphan and other students.

Feroz Ahmad, CEO, HWVO, spoke on the theme Alternative Care for Childeren In Need And Role of Volunteers, laid stress on skill based education through alternative care.

Mohammad Amin Bhat district representative Pulwama dicussed Importance of volunteerism in Contemporary World. He shared some painful incidents of neglecting parents by their own children in our society and the need to tackle such issues through community participation.

Shahnawaz Bhukhari (KAS) while commending the Foundation for its humanitarian work demanded that the organisation should work for the social audit to bring transparency in its working. He impressed upon the organisors to prioritise the education of the students.

Assistant Commissionar central with Div Com Kashmir Aziz Ahmad KAS spoke on the theme “Volunteers are Leader”. He spoke in length about the role of a volunteer to bring about a positive change in the lives of the needy. He told volunteers to become torch bearers so that new leaders are created instead of blind followers.

Speaking about the role of Media In Social Service Ghulam Abbas Senior IIS officer enumerated the importance of media in spreading the message of social service. He urged that community mobalisation programmes should be initiated among SC, ST and other backward communities who could not take advantage of welfare programmes.

Ex chairman Mohammad Rafiq Lone presented the vote of thanks.

Schalors of Baitul Hilal Kulgam presented varoius programmes during the 3 days programmes.

All the seven sessions of the event were conducted by Javaid Jawad, Nazir Ahmad, Peer Mohammad Amin, Dr Tariq Ahmad Malik, Mehmood ur Reyaz and Mohammad Iqbal Beigh.
Volunteers Farooq Ahmad, Eng Peer Aadil and Shahid Majeed presented the Naats during dufferent sessions.

The programme was sponsored by the volunteers of district Kulgam.

A young physical education teacher from Bandipora Yasir Zameer conducted the physical exercise sessions during the programme .
