Famous botanical garden located at Kokernag area of southern part of Anantnag district turns into playground for Dogs and pups.
Botanical Garden Kokernag with rich flora and fauna and is full of a lot of varieties of beautiful Alpine, Rose, Tropical plants and around one thousand enchanting and charming plants and trees. The pleasure garden of serene beauty lies against the backdrop of high and thick pine forests. This garden is very well-known not only in Kokernag but in entire world
Huge gatherings include local as well as outside visitors throng to enjoy the natural beauty and fresh breeze. On one side Floriculture deparment claims that they have maintained Kokernag park neat clean and have mada it attractive for visitors but on otherside now it has been turned into playground for dogs and pups.
Centre as well as state government who claims that thay have been boosting tourism sector but their claims fall flat when one visits Kokernag as employees who are supposed to take care of the garden spent days in ticket counters.
People are aghast as according to them care takers of the garden are unmoved even several dogs are seen playing with their pups in garden.
Meanwhile gardens are considered as back bone of Tourism department and important source of economy.
When these parks and gardens are look aftered in a proper way and cared to maintain free pollution and other things then we should have to halt dogs by entering gardens so that visitors attract towards destination.
Meanwhile Councilor MC kokernag Sheikh Prince talked with media persons said that department should utilize proper funds generated from revenue,for beautification of the park besides that the lights are also defunct causing immense problems for tourists.
In this regard when we talked with Assistant Floriculture officer Asif Ahmad Itoo, he said that due to damage in fence, the dogs are entering in garden.
He said we have already sent a proposal for higher ups and within one month we will cover garden with new grill so that tourist won’t face problems.
He also appealed general public to use dustbins so that dogs won’t fell prey of things that are being scattered in the garden.
