How is PMSBY Associated with e-SHRAM: The workers who have registered themselves in the e-Shram portal will be enrolled under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) and the premium for the first year will be borne by the Ministry of Labour and Employment. In order to know more details, the interested individuals can login to the official website of e-Shram at eshram.gov.in.

It has to be noted that the central government rolled out a national database for unorganised workers for the overall welfare of crores of these workers of the country. The e-Shram Portal was launched on August 26, 2021 and the government also provides e-Shram card to the workers.

  • Now, the workers must also be aware of the PMSBY scheme:  As per the financialservices.gov.in, the Scheme is available to people in the age group 18 to 70 years with a bank account who give their consent to join / enable auto-debit on or before May 31 for the coverage period from June 1 to May 31 on an annual renewal basis.

Aadhar would be the primary KYC for the bank account. The risk coverage under the scheme is Rs.2 lakh for accidental death and full disability and Rs. 1 lakh for partial disability. The premium of Rs. 12 per annum is to be deducted from the account holder’s bank account through ‘auto-debit’ facility in one installment. The scheme is being offered by Public Sector General Insurance companies or any other General Insurance Company who are willing to offer the product on similar terms with necessary approvals and tie up with banks for this purpose.

Recently, Director General of Labour Welfare has tweeted from its official Twitter handle about the eight crore registrations at e-shram portal. The tweet said, “Towards strong social security, 8 crore strong unorganized workers have already made their move.”

Those who have not yet registered on this portal can do so by following some simple steps. They are as follows:

Step 1:  Login to the official website at eshram.gov.in

Step 2: Click on the ‘Register on e-SHRAM’ link which is present on the home page

Step 3: Enter the Aadhaar linked mobile number and captcha code and click on send OTP

Step 4: Follow the subsequent instructions to complete the registration process

It can be noted that if a worker does not have Aadhaar linked mobile number, he/ she can visit nearest CSC’s and register through Biometric authentication.

In case of any query or further details, the interested individuals can login to the official website at eshram.gov.in.
