The organization has already taken an initiative to clean the Khushalsar Lake in Srinagar and have managed to restore its glory to a large extent while the clearance work in Sazgaripora area is going on.

Talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a Social worker and Chairman of Nigeen Lake Conservation Organization (NLCO) Manzoor Ahmad Wangnoo said that in the third phase of ‘Mission Ehsaas’, the organization is going to restore the springs in Kashmir.

“At present, the streams and springs have lost glory in Kashmir. We are trying to share our bit to regain the charm of these water bodies,” he said, adding that the civic sense among the general public is must. “It is the people who are involved in choking the water bodies. But, the people at the same time have the responsibility to restore the lost glory of these water bodies,” he said.

“Khushalsar Lake is the best example of such negligence, but the time has changed and our efforts have proved fruitful as the water body has regained its glory to a large extent. The efforts are still on and we have reached at Sazgaripora area where the cleaning process is going on,” he said.

He said that when the organization took the initiative, the government, especially the Divisional administration, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir and Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) provided complete assistance in this regard.

“Under the 3rd phase of Mission Ehsaas, we have decided to restore the springs. In the first, we will go to Ganderbal tomorrow where three springs at Choont Waliwal have lost the glory and the restoration work will be started there probably from tomorrow,” he said, adding that the restoration work on other springs will also be started—(KNO)
