Srinagar, June 20: Police on Monday said they have booked social media news group ‘The Real Kashmir’ for spreading fake news on social media.
In a statement issued to GNS, the police said that Shopian police registered FIR under relevant sections of law against the handler of Facebook news portal THE REAL KASHMIR NEWS for spreading fake and and baseless news with the intention to mislead the general public about the Chandigam Lolab encounter and investigation has been set into motion.
The spokesman further said that general public is once again requested not to pay heed towards these rumours and legal action will be taken against those spreading fake and baseless information on the social media.(GNS)
