Srinagar, July 23: As climate changes, heavy rains lashed Srinagar, as many area got badly hit, causing the blockage to drains, flooded roads and muddy water on roads. Continuing all this, the residents of Nawakadal area of Central Kashmir’s Srinagar district on Thursday alleged that the roads are in a dilapidated condition as the drainage system in their area is worst.
People while speaking exclusively with The Eternal Kashmir (EK), said “the drainage system in Nawakadal Srinagar is worst among all. Whenever it rains, the roads are full of water and mud. We can’t even walk properly as the water comes directly from the drainage.”
“Being a resident of Kokar Masjid Nawakadal Srinagar, we are facing sever issue of drainage from almost 8 to 9 years. If it rains for even one hour, the water fills the road completely and due to that we cannot even walk. The rainfall chokes the movement of whole Kokar Masjid area”, said Irfan Farooq Khan a local resident.
“Recently a maintanence work on drainage system was done, and due to that the problem of residents increased. It was because they raised the level of road here at Kokar Masjid side and because of that the water gets choked in our area,” said Irfan.
Now, we would like to appeal the administration to kindly look into the matter and treat it as urgent, as we are not able to move out of our homes. (Eternal Kashmir)
