Srinagar, May 19: The National Testing Agency on Friday ordered rescheduling of CUET-UG exams in Jammu and Kashmir following massive outcry over allotting exams centres to candidates outside the Union Territory.
In a notification, a copy of which lies with Kashmir News Service (KNS) the NTA said that the exam will now be held from May 26 onwards in Jammu and Kashmir.
“In continuation to the Public Notice dated: 19 May 2023 and Press Note dated: 19 May 2023, it has been decided that the CUET (UG) – 2023 examination scheduled for 21 to 25 May 2023 is cancelled in Jammu & Kashmir,” reads the notice.
It reads that a total of 87309 unique candidates have been registered from the Jammu and Kashmir.
“This is a phenomenal increase in the number of registered candidates as per the last year. Being sensitive to the needs of candidates and to facilitate the students of Jammu and Kashmir, the NTA is exploring the possibility of creating temporary Centres in Kashmir.”
It added that it has been decided that the CUET (UG) 2023 will now be conducted from 26 May 2023 onwards in Jammu & Kashmir. (KNS)
