She said that her results for the annual regular examination are showing ‘disqualified for two years’.

Speaking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the 12th standard non-medical entrant said that her examination centre authorities in south Kashmir’s Shopian district had misplaced her one of the papers and had allegedly blamed her.

“After finishing the chemistry paper, I was on the way home and all of the sudden I got a call from the superintendent. He told me that I have forgotten to mark a signature on the answer sheet and I have to go back,” she said.

The 12th standard student during a demonstration here in Press Enclave Srinagar further said, “Two of the teachers of my examination center picked me and took me to the school wherein I was told that I had not submitted the answer sheet of chemistry paper. I told them that I have submitted it and they can even check it in CCTV cameras.”

“However, they didn’t check and instead blamed me for their mistake. Later, the superintendent apologized to me, saying that her answer sheet was mixed with those who were appearing for one of the arts stream papers,” she said.

She added, “Ironically, despite accepting that they found the answer sheet, I have been disqualified for appearing the 12th standard exams for two year and that too for none of my mistakes or faults.”

The protesting students demand justice and inquiry into the matter at earliest. “My career is at stake and I request the concerned authorities to take immediate steps to resolve my issue.”

CEO Shopian said, “In this regard, I spoke to BOSE joint secretary who said that it had already asked the student to appear before the court for explanation. However, she has not visited there.”

“Now, the BOSE will again ask both the parties including the student and the superintendent to appear before the court soon,” he said adding, “Then only there shall be any decision in this regard.”—(KNO)
