Ganderbal Police hold Interactive Session With Professional Journalists
SSP Ganderbal highlighted the importance and role of media in a democratic setup by describing media as an important pillar of democracy
Ganderbal, 23 September 2023: Ganderbal Police hold interactive session with the professional media Persons affiliated with Print, electronic media Organisations working in Ganderbal District.
During Interactive session SSP Ganderbal Shri Nikhil Borkar IPS along with DySP Headquarters Gh.Hassan JKPS and SHO Ganderbal Manzoor ahmad were present, SSP Ganderbal highlighted the importance and role of the media in a democratic setup by describing the media as an important pillar of democracy.
While appreciating their role, he called for mutual understanding and cooperation with regard to the reformation of society by eradicating social crimes,as various issues having direct bearing on society were discussed,Journalists put forth a series of suggestions of public importance and the chairing officer assured to take all these on priority.
SSP Ganderbal attempted to make the journalists aware of their responsibilities and the role that they are expected to play in a society like Ganderbal.
SSP Ganderbal also shared experiences of working in emergency situations like natural calamities,drug menace and apprised the working journalists of the extra-ordinary responsibilities that lay on their shoulders in such situations.
SSP Ganderbal stressed and to stop the rapid spread of rumors often triggers mass anxiety and panic among public
,social media have gradually become critical information sharing unmoderated information sharing on social media has led to the breeding and spreading of online rumors, False information and reports on these emergencies need to be curbed.
Intractive session also intended to strengthen the interface between Police and the media organizations and journalists working at the grassroots level in Ganderbal.
The participating media personnel assured their full cooperation with the police and also appreciated the efforts of the police in facilitating such interaction meets where participants can express their opinion freely.
Highliting the importance Journalist Zamin Peerzada said, that i appreciate the steps taken by the SSP Ganderbal and District Police, we Jointly benefits to people through ethical journalism,and against the psedo journalism practice and are looking forward for the betterment and will bring positive change in the society especially in the Ganderbal District.
