Rajouri, Nov. 23 : Two army officers were among five killed in an ongoing encounter in the woods of Rajouri district. One LeT snipper trained militant has also been killed so far.
Reliable sources told News Agency Kashmir Scroll that one more soldier succumbed today morning taking the toll to 5 including two officers in an ongoing encounter with militants in the Rajouri area of Jammu and Kashmir.
They said troops, including special forces, are deployed in the area after inputs were received about the movement of a group of terrorists in the area.
The 16 Corps Commander and Rashtriya Rifles commander are monitoring the operations closely They added.
Army on Thursday said a trained sniper of Lahkar-e-Toiba militant outfit who is believed to be the mastermind of Dhangri attacks was killed in an ongoing encounter in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, which has claimed the lives of four army personnel, including two captains.
Officials said that one militant identified as Qari resident of Pakistan has been killed in the ongoing gunfight..
He was active in Rajouri-Poonch along with his group for the past one year.
As per the reports, he was sent to revive militancy in the region. He is also an expert in IEDs, operating & hiding from Caves & a trained sniper, they said.
