Udhampur, Oct, 21: Continuing its campaign against Drugs and Narcotics, District Police Udhampur achieved a major success by recovering 700 grams of Contraband Heroin like substance at Motorshed Naka Point Chenani (NHW) and arresting hard-core narco smuggler.
Police team of Police Station Chenani led by its SHO was conducting routine vehicle checking at motorshed Naka Point Chenani and a vehicle (Maruti Car) bearing registration No. JK13B-1343 was made to stop which was on its way from Kashmir towards Jammu. During checking of said vehicle, Police team recovered 700 grams of Heroin like substance from one narco smuggler who was smuggling the above contraband in the said vehicle. The said narco smuggler has been arrested on spot and was identified as Ashraf S/O Abdul Rashid R/O Gund Tankipura Kulgam.
In this connection, A case FIR No. 163/2024 under sections 8/21/22 NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Chenani and further investigation of the case has been taken up.
Udhampur Police is working to unearth forward and backward links, so that all those involved in this illegal trade could be booked under law. General public is requested to share any information related to narcotics with police.
