Srinagar, Jan 27: A student from Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), has brought laurels to the valley by clinching the bronze medal in the All India Inter-University Pencak Silat Championship.

The championship, held at Guru Nanak Dev University in Amritsar, Punjab, witnessed the outstanding performance of Mufti Ahmad, son of Mufti Zahoor of 90ft, Ahmadnagar, Srinagar.

Expressing his emotions, Ahmad, while speaking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said this victory is not just mine; it belongs to Jammu & Kashmir. “It’s a testament to the talent that our region holds, and I am honored to represent my state on this prestigious platform,” he said.

Ahmad, who has dedicated six years to the sport, showcased his skills amidst fierce competition, marking his presence on the national stage.

Reflecting on his journey, Ahmad stated, “Playing at the national level has always been a dream, and winning a medal here is a surreal experience. I hope my success inspires more youngsters from J&K to pursue their passion and excel in sports.”

“The students from prestigious universities across India participated in the event, and securing a bronze medal under the banner of the Islamic University Awantipora makes me feel special,” added Ahmad.

He added that “as being actively participated in National-level competitions, I am overwhelmed by my achievement at the inter-university level that underscores my commitment and proficiency in Pencak Silat.”—(KNO)
