Beside commentators, the role of umpires is significant in decorating this game. One such official is Majid Hurrah from Goushbugh village of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.Gentle soul Majid Hurrah is known for his Hawkeye and pinpoint accurate decision making.
Known official Hurrah started officiating Munawar-Wali bilateral series between Andergam and SNW Hosting village Chanderhama.This series used to be known as “Ashes of valley”.
From last 9 years Majid Hurrah is officiating SNW cricket tournament (World Cup of Kashmir).
From North to South,it is hard to have a tournament to have tournament without his presence.
Always hectic to perform officiating task. But if you are there in the ring, you have to accept challenges. Hurrah said.
From my young age it was my passion, but with the passage of time it turned to be a profession.Good umpire need to have a good knowletof the game and should have complete hold on every law.
Majid Hurrah further mentioned that he Visited ever ground of valley and got a reputation, name and fame because of umpiring.
Beside officiating in valley, Majid Hurrah was official of biggest winter carnival played outside Jammu and Kashmir, Kashmir Premier League(KPL) Gannuar Haryana. The title lifted by Sultan Warriors this year. Majid Hurrah was umpiring in JKPL 2023.
