According to a CBI statement, the arrests were made after the Senior Security Assistant was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹50,000 from a complainant.
“The accused RPFC had allegedly demanded a bribe of ₹1.5 lakh from the complainant for not taking adverse action and imposing a hefty penalty against the complainant’s school,” the statement said.
“The trap team caught the Senior Security Assistant while accepting ₹50,000 as part of the bribe amount. The RPFC was also arrested after acknowledging the acceptance of the bribe through the middleman,” the statement added.
The agency said further investigation into the case is underway.
They were identified as Vinay Kumar, Regional Provident Fund Commissioner, EPFO, Batmaloo, Kashmir Region and Amin Sofi.
The CBI has reiterated that giving or taking bribes is a punishable offence and urged citizens to report any such instances to the agency. (KDC)
