Kulgam, July 12 : In a relentless effort to curb the menace of drug peddling, Kulgam Police under the supervision of SSP Kulgam Shri Sahil Sarangal-IPS continued its proactive actions against offenders, today attached Properties (One double storied residential house and a residential cum commercial house) measuring 3457 Sq. Ft (Valuing 3 Crores) belonging to a notorious drug peddler namely Abdul Rashid Rather@Mathur Son of Ghulam Hassan Rather R/O Bonigam Qazigund, Kulgam under section 68-F(2) of NDPS Act 1985.
The properties were identified as illegally acquired property during the course of investigation/enquiry conducted by Kulgam police and were prima facie acquired from illicit trafficking in narcotic drug and psychotropic substances by the owner, who is presently detained under PIT NDPS act and is lodged at Central Jail Kot Balwal Jammu. Pertinently the said drug peddler is involved in Case FIR number 128/2020 and Case FIR number 227/2023 of Police Station Qazigund.
This action reaffirms the commitment of Kulgam Police to combat the drug menace. Local people of the area have hailed the initiative of Police with regard to the attachment of immoveable property, which has been raised/used from illicit trafficking of narcotics by the drug peddlers in the Kulgam district .
