In five years, JK utilises over 85 percent of funds for girl education under ‘Bete Anmol’ scholarship scheme

Srinagar, Aug 03: In the past five years, authorities in Jammu and Kashmir have utilised more than 85 percent of funds allocated under ‘Bete Anmol’ scheme.

The official available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) reveals that from 2019-20 to the academic year 2023-24, a total of Rs 967.25 Lakhs were allocated under the ‘Bete Anmol’ scheme out of which authorities have utilised Rs 823.61 Lakhs.

About the Stipend and Scholarships, the figures reveal that a total of Rs 991.5 Lakhs were allocated out of which Rs 725.41 Lakhs were utilized.

According to the official figures, in 2019-20, a total of Rs 120 Lakhs were allocated for the Bete Anmol scheme out of which only Rs 100 Lakhs were utilized followed by allocation of Rs 180 Lakhs and utilisation of Rs 175.68 Lakhs in year 2020-21.

It also states that in the year 2021-22, a total of Rs 180 Lakhs were allocated for the scheme out of which Rs 174.7 Lakhs were utilized by the JK government.

Likewise, in 2022-23, a total of Rs 150 Lakhs were allocated to Jammu and Kashmir government of which Rs 129.53 Lakhs were utilised followed by allocation of Rs 337.25 Lakhs and Rs 243.7 Lakhs in year 2023-24.

Earlier this week KNO reported that in past four years, the School Education Department has not utilized full funds allocated under the Revex budget for elementary and secondary level education.

In the fiscal 2020-21, under the Revex budget a total of Rs 224027.73 lakh were allocated for the elementary education and Rs 194950.96 lakh for secondary level education out of which only Rs 210502.12 Lakhs and Rs 161246.67 Lakhs were utilized in both elementary and secondary level education on the account of salary and administrative expenses—(KNO)
