Srinagar, Aug, 05: Srinagar experienced a sudden and heavy downpour in the early hours of August 5, 2024, bringing a temporary respite from the intense heat that had gripped the region. However, the torrential rains caused considerable disruption and damage across the city.
The unexpected downpour led to significant water seepage in both commercial and residential establishments. Several buildings reported damage to their interiors, with water seeping through walls and ceilings. In addition, the heavy rains resulted in severe waterlogging in key areas such as Lal Chowk and the downtown region. The accumulation of water on roads severely impacted normal commutation, causing delays and traffic congestion throughout the city.
Local authorities are currently assessing the extent of the damage and working to clear the waterlogged areas to restore normalcy.
