Kulgam, Nov, 07: An awareness programme on traffic rules and regulations was held today by the Motor Vehicle Department of Kulgam in collaboration with the International Human Rights Commission HQ, Switzerland( Inter-governmental organisation). The event aimed at educating the public about the importance of adhering to traffic laws for safer roads and smoother traffic flow.

The programme, which saw active participation from local residents and traffic authorities, was presided over by the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Kulgam, Mr. Abrar Ahmad Kripak. During the event, Mr. Kripak presented appreciation certificates to individuals who have consistently followed traffic rules. These certificates recognized their commitment to road safety and responsible driving.

In addition, the authorities distributed informational pamphlets to those found violating traffic regulations. The pamphlets highlighted the importance of traffic discipline and the potential consequences of non-compliance with the law.

Speaking on the occasion, ARTO Kulgam, Abrar Ahmad Kripak, appealed to the general public to adhere strictly to traffic rules to ensure their own safety and that of others on the road. “Road safety is a shared responsibility, and it is crucial for everyone to play their part in following the rules and ensuring smooth traffic flow,” he emphasized.

The initiative is part of ongoing efforts by the Motor Vehicle Department and the International Human Rights Commission to promote safe driving practices and raise awareness about the rights and responsibilities of road users.
