Srinagar, Nov, 12: Authorities have announced a comprehensive crackdown on violations that threaten the safety of commuters in hilly regions. Key measures include a ban on overtaking on steep roads and prohibiting the operation of overloaded vehicles, which have been identified as primary causes of accidents. Vehicles lacking proper fitness certificates, insurance, or pollution clearance will be barred from the roads, and drivers without valid licenses will face vehicle seizures. Reckless driving and overloaded baggage, which can lead to dangerous imbalances, will also be strictly monitored.
Unregistered stands must begin the registration process, while registered stands are required to display clear rate lists. Fare overcharging and improper treatment of tourists and passengers will be heavily scrutinized. Authorities have emphasized adherence to all traffic advisories, especially during the winter season, to protect lives and ensure safe travel.
